SOLLAS

We came first in May sun

Druzhok danced and dived

In the dunes, sand and sun

Just before Father died

We came again, after the memorial

Through the equinox of force 10

Walked the strand

Winds beating us flat, then sun

Druzhok ran his last miles next May

We came again

Silence.  Sadness.

This spring the young white wolf

Barks and pounces the dunes, the waves

We burn in Easter sun

Earth and sky meet

In this place between the heavens and earth

That unknown sound: wolf, whale? Then seal.
